A great end to a busy week

We arrived in London on Tuesday and were completely exhausted. We rented a car, loaded up our 200 lbs of gear and headed for Flight. We managed to load two of our four bags onto the boat before crashing for a two and a half hour nap. Wednesday was spent stowing our gear on board and taking advantage of our rental car to provision the boat. We hit the local Tesco and picked up food that we will need for the next 2 weeks. On Thursday, we went to a Polish grocery store in the morning and then returned the rental car to the Southampton Airport. Our train trip from the airport back to Bursledon was long as our first train was late and we missed our connection. Flight’s previous owner, David, arrived late Thursday afternoon to join us for a week of handover training/cruising.

David is an amazing teacher. He has intimate knowledge of Flight and her systems, and conveys information in a clear and concise manner. He’s also simply a great individual! We spent Friday crawling through the boat and doing some passage planning. On Saturday, we headed out on the water and sailed to Lymington, a cute little town about 15 nm away. The day was a bit chilly, but mostly sunny and a great day for a sail. We hung out in Lymington on Saturday and enjoyed visiting the weekly market and exploring the town. We are spending the evening passage planning and and looking forward to more great sailing tomorrow.
