As I write this first entry, we are on an airplane to London Heathrow and about to start a grand adventure. In the past three months, we have purchased a sailboat in England, sold our home of 22 years, put our belongings in storage, and are heading to join S/V Flight, our new home for the foreseeable future. (S/V is short for sailing vessel.) We have four large duffle bags containing ~200 pounds of gear, spare parts, tools, clothing and assorted things that we could not live without such as a coffee grinder and my favorite blanket. Getting to this point has been quite a whirlwind and I’ll share more details in a subsequent post.
Our sailboat, Flight, is a 2016 Hallberg-Rassy 40 Mark II built in Sweden and we are her second owners. I refer to her as the Volvo of boats – high build quality and solid design. She is quite lovely with teak decks and mahogany interiors. Flight was meticulously cared for by David and Bill, her previous owners who have become friends. Her hull is white with the classic blue stripes of all Hallberg-Rassys.

If you are interested in our adventures, feel free to subscribe to my blog. I can promise lots of info and photos of our wanderings. You can expect more posts in the coming days as we settle in, purchase provisions and get to know her better. The fun is only beginning!
